George Homer brought to Brazil the Retail Design Institute, an association of professionals dedicated to the design for retail, founded in the US in 1961 and it is a non-profit organization that promotes collaborative creation of retail environments. It develops retail design programs for colleges and universities. The RDI connects with the Brazilian retail community through workshops, seminars, highlighting new trends and achievements in retail design, and builds relationships with retail associations and academic institutions. In 2010, the organization introduced the ABF - RDI Design Award, recognizing the projects that contributed to elevate consumers' shopping experience, market and performance of franchising network, and stimulate retail design as a strategic business tool. In 2013, the Retail Design Institute introduced its owned National Retail Design Award. The organization takes part in the most important Conferences in Brazil contributing with retail design knowledge for retailers, manufactures and designers around the country.
